Rhaza'a Arris

You touched the edge of endless skies, and still the questions linger on.
What did you find beyond the stars, when the night stretched out so long?

Background

Rhaza'a was born in Dravania to the Arris clan. At a young age, it was found that he excelled in thaumaturgical magics, a rarity in his clan, something they had little knowledge of. Rather than waste his gift, his mother, at the urging of the clan matriarch, took him to the far away city of Ul'dah to enroll in the Thaumaturgy guild. When he came of age, he joined the Immortal Flames with the friends he had made and spent his days lazily guarding trade caravans and racing chocobos with them. Then the world changed when the plans of Nael Van Darnus came to fruition and Dalmud came down. Rhaza'a was fighting at the battle of Carteneau and witnessed the world engulfed in flame...unlike many of his friends, he survived.Upon returning to Ul'dah, he found more tragedy, his mother had become one of the many victims of Bahamut's rampage. There were no promises of blood and vengeance made, having seen enough death for now, and instead just went about helping rebuild the city hoping for things to return to a semblance of normalcy. Unfortunately he could find no peace in Ul'dah and moved to Limsa Lominsa, transferring his grand company commission to the Maelstrom. While there, he took upon the chance to study Arcane magic and began experimenting on combining it and Thaumaturgy much to the chagrin of the Arcanist Guild. When the Garlean threat returned to Eorzea, Rhaza'a returned to the battlefield and took part in Operation Archon where he was part of the siege of Castrum Marinum, where he stole a Magitek Reaper during the end of a scouting mission. Rhaza'a later took part in the battles of Baelsar's Wall. During the retaking of Ala Mhigo, he (and a handful of others) was given special dispensation by the Alliance military to use Black Magic once the fighting bogged down in the Ghimlyt Dark. After the war, Rhaza'a suddenly found himself unemployed as he was dismissed from service. Using property he "inherited" in Kugane, he began experimenting with smuggling to Mainland Othard. Before the endevour became profitable, or before he was caught, he was approached to join the Stellar Initiative, using his mage skills to map the leylines of distant stars., and pilot cargo shuttles once they found out he was a competent pilot.

Clan Arris has occupied the Dravanian Forelands since the Fifth Umbral Era. They were known for making extensive use of Chocobos and forming strong bonds with their birds.
The clan has a long tradition of their hunters and warriors using mounted lances and rifles; an adult warrior of the tribe was expected to be able to hit a target from a far distance while in a full mounted charge over rough terrain. The hunters as well were trained to direct their chocobo hunting companion while stalking prey using huntspeak.
Arris trained Chocobos became very sought after by other Dravanian based tribes and clans. They actively traded with the Sharlayan colony before the Sharlayans evacuated from Eorzea, currently trade with the Goblins of the Hinterlands, the adventurers of Idyllshire and of course other friendly tribes and clans in the region. With the end of the Dragonsong war, they are considering opening trade with Ishgard, if they can get past their animosity.
